2025 marks the 100th year of our Charity.

Established by Margaret Payne in 1925, and continued by her daughter Daphne Parmenter until 2012, the organisation has continued to operate under a dedicated board of Trustees and committed staff and volunteers caring for animals in Ipswich and the surrounding area.

Now known as Animal Welfare Suffolk we are looking to mark our 100th Anniversary by further expanding our operations around Suffolk, caring for cats that need rehoming and providing assistance to owners of all domestic animals that are struggling under the many financial pressures of the modern world.

We have recently launched our 100 for 100 Appeal which seeks 100 donations of £100 from individuals and organisations. The money raised will go towards increasing the support we offer to pet owners in Suffolk and ideally the opening costs of a second cat rescue centre.

Our key aspiration for the 100th Anniversary is identifying a suitable site where we can locate a second cat rescue centre. We are asking all of our supporters to draw our attention to any plot they feel might be suitable. Our needs are for a level site where we can build approximately 12 shelters plus a kitchen/office with access to water and electricity and parking for two cars. Although we would prefer to establish this centre near to our existing Ipswich facility to allow easy movement between the two we are open to any location within
Suffolk.
